EVALUATION
Q1: In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
As I chose to create a thriller I used eerie, creepy music which questions's the viewer, which is what a thriller is all about. I used a white based room, and was able to have the facilties of several spotlights which I placed around the room to make the charracter look abit darker, I done this to show the dark side to my character, it also represented isolation which was what she was feeling.
Majority of my camera shots that I used were CU (close up) and MCU (Medium close up) I wanted to show all the emotions on the characters face's as my charaters didnt speak, it was all about the physical movement and face. This helped add to the effect of showing the dark side to the characters. I used the theme song from the film 'The Orphan'even thought this film's a horror, I personally think that it fitted
with my genre of a thriller as it's very mysterious and story-telling which is apart of the conventions of a thriller.
My thriller challenged the conventions by incorporatingg images of death at the begining of the film, rather than the end.
Q2: How does your media product represent particualar social groups?
I have used teenage actors in my film as i feel that they could relate to the real life situations that teenagers go through, and it makes it look more realistic as my characters are teenegers themselves. Ive used mixed gendre so it appeals to everyone. my actors are of working class and attend college, they are also of mixed ethnictity which shows a variety of people.
Q3: What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
I've researched into different media institutions and found out that mojority of the film companies distribute Thrillers such as: New Line Cinema,Paramount and Warner Brots. so i think they would also distribute mine because it's a 'typical' thriller. they've released films such as: The Dark Knight,Snakes on a plane, The final destination and Lara Croft: Tomb Raider which are all thrillers.
I think my film would also be a big budget venture as i feel that it coudld be very sucessfull.
Q4: Who would be the audience for your media product?
My film target audience is mainly aimed at 15-25 year olds as i feel the genre is more aimed at working class people, i belive higher class people wouldn't watch a thriller or maybe go the the cinema atall as they a maybe more drawn to theatre productins. In terms of gendre it's aimed at both male and females. During my questionaire I found out that some females didnt like the fact that thrillers are male oreientated so i had a female as my main character so it appeals to those, I have also used a male as a main character.
Q5: How did you attract/address your audience?
I think I have a mysterious storyline, my opening shows a dead body and also clues into how it all happend which I think is good as it would make the audience think and draw them in. My opening begins with a girl dead on the floor, so automatically I think the viewers will start to ask questions and want to find out what happen's next. My characters are very relatable and I want to show the realness of my storyline which is why I chose teenagers to act rather than older people, I also feel that this is somthing that is different to normal thrillers, as most of them i've watched have used adults, which I think will appeal to many people.
My titles are quite plain but i think very effective, i used a black background with white writing to give the impression of a ghostly feel with a mixture of darkness. The music i used in my opening is the theme song from The Orphan and i think it's perfect for my opening sequence as it will grab the audience's attention straight away, it's very creepy and mysterious.
To attract my audience at the cinema I would create posters and make a trailer which will be shown before other films start, the age limit for my film would be a 15 as i dont think it's appropriate for ages younger, so I would promote it most with cinema's and places were teeangers and adults would be.
Q6:What have you learn't about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
By making this product i have learnt how to use most aspects of final cut pro, ive also learnt that it's not as easy as it seems, the editing process takes up most of the time and alot of effort has to go into making it, but once you get used to it, it gets easier. Using blogspot was very easy to use, the step by step quide to create your blog was easy to follow which helped alot. Using the mini DV camera was also very straight forward, but using it hand held was quite hard so i had to practice to get a steady shot but overall i used the tripod on most of my shots.
Overall ive learnt that all technologies are different and some are easier than others but once i knew what to do it was pretty easy.
Q7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?
Looking back, im very happg that I stayed to my choice of working alone as i feel it would've stopped me from doing most of the things that i've done, I also feel like my concentration was much better because I didnt have to re-think about my ideas, as I felt much more independant.

TASK 9: FILMING
My Production Schedule!
I've been planning and have decided that my main days of filming will be on a monday and tuesday afternoon as then is when i have the most time, and also it's easy for my actors to work around. I am filming the mojority of my scene's in the photography room in my college as i feel it's the perfect space to create the small space that i need for my film.
Mondays- I will recored the longer scenes and all the shots with my main character (India) as she is off college and can film alot.
Tuesdays- I will shoot my other scenes with the other characters as its easier for them to film on that day.
I'm have permission to use this room any time of the day aslong as no one else is using it which i think is really good as it gives me the freedom to film when i need to.
The only equiptment I will need is a tripod to record my steady shots, other than that I wont be needing anything else.

Task 7: ROLL ALLOCATION

Task 6: STORY BOARD
Task 5: SCRIPT
I'm not going to have the actors talking in the opening to my film, I've decided to have a voice over as I feel it's more effective and gives the viewers a better understandng of the film.
Voice Over:
My name is India Stevens and my life is over, I am on the verge of ending it, as i feel There is no purpose of me on this earth, but at the same time someone else is thinking the same thing...
Im am here in this room and im finally writing my suicide letter to tell all those I love (if any) of the reasons why im about to do this..
I am in deep depression
I have no-one to talk to
No friends
No family
And Ive now lost my boyfriend..
Now you answer me this, can you think of any reason why I should go on?...
Before you answer theres one minor situation.
I'm already Dead.

Task 4: The Pitch
1st Idea:
I had an idea to make my own version of the 2010 film Chat Room. I would have a group of students who spend all of their time on social networks meeting different people everyday, and i would show the challenges that they go through. It would be very eary and abstract which would make it a thriller, based around 5 characters when they log into the chat room it literally becomes a different room for them to socialize, it becomes realistic, and it will show the different struggles that young adults go through on a daily basis. One of the main characters get addicted to one of the chat rooms which encourages people to become annorexic because it's the way forward but thing's get out of hand when they become too addicited, there are also chatrooms which consists of bulling and other unappropriate subjects.
2nd Idea:
I had another idea, set in a college, a boy is being stalked by a girl who is totally in love with him, he doesn't know but she secretly takes pictures of him and has them spread around her room , she's a very dark person who harms herself and blocks the world out because of this by. He finds out and things don't go a swell as she hoped, he orders her to stay away and things get even darker as she begins to take her anger out on other people and the people the boy loves also, as she feels this will make them closer but he finds out the truth and insists on revenge! all that has happend gets too much for the girl and she eventually takes her own life trying to take the boy down with her one last time, but it doesnt work out to plan.
3rd Idea:
My 3rd idea was based on a recurring nightmare the character has at night, he keeps seeing himself surrounded by many dead people and himself covered in blood, he doesnt know what's causing this nightmare, so he goes to see different doctors and therapist but none of them have an answer, he gets weird signs and signal's into his dream and follows it up alone until his dream becomes a reality and he has to fight alone to stop it from happening. My idea for this film was inspired by the trilogy 'final destination' as I feel it's a very abstract film and has alot of obsticles to pass untill you find out the truth.
4th Idea:
my final idea consists of a young girl who is going through a dark period in her life, she gets bullied at school and her 'so called' boyfriend doesn't care about her. she sinks into a deep depression and is on the verge of killing herself, but theres a twist to the story. Her boyfriend and Best friend BOTH want her dead and plan to do it themselves. There will be a voice over throughout parts of the film begining with the opening, it will be the main characters voice which makes it very eary, as the film begins with her dead on the floor surrouned by people and her voice explaining, so its like a voice of a spirit! This film is based in a hospital room surrounded by white walls to signify her loneliness and the state of her mind.she writes a suicide note and plans to kill herself untill her 'boyfriend' and friend find out were she is...
Final Choice
I have decided to make my forth idea my final decision as I feel I can get alot from it, I have alot of ideas to make this film and I belive it is at my standard of work. I felt more comfortable when writing out this idea because I think the film relates to young teenagers as there are alot who go through the same struggles.

Questionnaire Report
From constructing my questionnaire i have found out several things.
SEVEN was the film that came up the most when i asked about peoples favourite thrillers. this shows that people like to see and challenge within a film and likes the idea of a mystery that needs to be sold, this has helped me because it has given me different ideas to create my own film. other films such as inception and law abiding citizen also came up.
A lot of different characters came up that they would like to see in a thriller such as:
Protagonist/Antagonist
Mysterious
Clever
Challenging
By seeing this I will definitely be considering adding in characters like this.
A few people said that they would want to see a thriller set in town or in a city, which i think would be good as i can have a verity of locations to film in.
Uneasy, classical, brooding and tense where types of music they would expect to see, i like the idea of the classical music being use because even though is very calm it tells a story and i think it would really set the scene for my chosen theme.
I don't want my film to be a typical thriller, so i have the idea to use my females than male to change it a bit, this came up in my questionnaire answers as someone said the didn't like the fact that its 'Too male orientated'. also that the build up to the main plot is too slow, so I won't pro-long the story i will keep it really compact so that it doesn't bore the audience.
